Random Access memory is a memory type that is fast and provide temporal storage of data.
Its mode of storage, how data is held on it and how fast the stores data can be retrieved varies depending with the type of RAM used.

There are two special types of RAM namely:

  1. Static Random Access Memory (SRAM)
  2. Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM)


This is a fast type of RAM that is commonly found inside the microprocessor.

Compared to S RAM, it is a relatively slower type of RAM. It has the tendency to lose charge even with constant power supply. To maitain its charge and data usage, it requires frequent refreshing.
